Encourage asthmatics to stop smoking; offer advice and information about structured programs to stop smoking.

Motivate asthmatics to avoid exposure to secondary cigarette smoke

Advice for parents and caregivers

Do not allow smoking in the environments in which children live, especially in sleeping room and automobiles.

In the initial evaluation of the patient

In patients with a history of smoking > 10 pack-years, evaluate the possibility of Asthma-COPD Overlap Syndrome (ACOS)
